An alternative to unnecessary residential placements, our Virtual Residential Program (VRP ©™) began operations in the Charlotte area and now extends to numerous rural and urban regions. VRP is a distinctive and effective service that unites highly intensive, multi-systemic in-home services within the structure of a residential approach. The average intensity of VRP services initially is thirty-five hours per week, with a focus on defusing imminent risk factors and implementing crisis stabilization plans. Services are initially planned within an eight-week time frame and extended in four-week increments based on treatment team recommendations and referral source authorizations. Step-down services are available to transition families toward less restrictive services at the earliest possible opportunity. The high intensity level of this program seeks to prevent out-of-home placement or to transition a youth back into the community after completing a stay in a residential facility. Additionally, FPS of North Carolina offers individual, family and group therapy, community based professional and paraprofessional services, adolescent sex offender services, and outpatient services. FPS of North Carolina will continue to collaborate with local management entities statewide to develop and deliver the needed services in accordance with best practice principles. Family Preservation Community Services (“FPCS”) strives to stay in line with the company’s stated mission to keep children within their communities. In the Western Highlands Area FPCS has developed a Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) program. Children are referred to the TFC program to address serious emotional, behavioral and medical problems. The program is active, structured, and occurs in a licensed foster family home. TFC is a clinically- and cost-effective alternative to residential treatment that combines the treatment practices typically offered in more restrictive settings with a nurturing and individualized family environment. In the Charlotte area, FPCS provides Rapid Response Homes. Rapid Response Homes are treatment foster homes designed to accommodate children in crisis. By allowing the children to reside in these homes for a time limited period of de-escalation, the child may return to live in his/her home without being placed in a higher level of care. Services include intensive case management and crisis oversight of the home 24 hours a day. FPCS is led by numerous professionals with a wide range of professional backgrounds and experience. This diverse and highly committed staff will continue to serve children and families in their communities, and respond to newly identified community needs.
